Do you think the same?:
“For some time now, I’ve felt numb, with no interest in life. I wake up in the morning, go to work, and return in the evening”… it happens to many people, and actually it’s called apathy.
It’s not about being rude, angry, or anything like that; you just become completely indifferent toward life.
The blank facial expression, the closed and slouched posture, the faint tone of voice are classic signs of apathy.
Yet, it wasn’t always like this. There was a time when you’d talk about everything, with friends, with loved ones, you’d confide and open your heart. What has changed?
It’s hard to say, but the fact is that you’ve closed yourself off, dominated by a condition of growing exhaustion of the body, fueled by negative thoughts.
These negative thoughts keep us from acting, and by not acting, we don’t achieve results. This makes us even more depressed, fueling more negative thoughts, and so on… into a spiral that leaves no way out.
Thinking about isolation:
It’s hard to say what causes apathy, probably an unmet strong desire that, when unfulfilled, makes us flee from a reality we don’t like, leading to isolation.
“I’d love to go away somewhere on my own, give up everything, and find happiness.”
As common as this thought may be, it’s not the solution. Haven’t you isolated yourself enough already?
You can’t find happiness through renunciation or isolation… life is about connection, contact, communion.
You’ve allowed yourself to be apathetic, don’t keep going down the path of conflict by adding more isolation. Enthusiasm is the key; it’s the variable that makes the difference in our lives.
We all agree that moments of enthusiasm are the best ones; indeed, it is associated with a great sense of positive change. It gives us energy, a great boost associated with positive thoughts.
Enthusiasm also compensates for all the waiting, suffering, and disappointment endured to reach the goal.
Suggestions:
Change the way you talk to yourself. Don’t say negatively: “I’ve lost my enthusiasm!”… instead, try saying: “Can I find it again somehow?”
The answer is yes! And you need to focus on the small things each day. It’s easy to get excited when an unexpected event happens in our lives (good news, a promotion at work, etc.), but we need to find enthusiasm within ourselves by shifting our perspective.
Here are a few steps to follow:
– Rediscover old passions that used to excite you.
– Exercise by doing an activity you enjoy.
– Pair your physical and daily activities with your favorite music, and try to have fun while doing them.
Reflect on your life. There is a reason to be excited today, and if you really can’t find it, here it is: your reason to be excited today is that you have a day ahead of you to start changing your life.
